Scripture & the Triune God
The Bible is God’s reliable, authoritative and sufficient Word for faith, doctrine and life. There is one true and eternal God, Creator of all things: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus · Scripture & prayer · Spirit · Mission
We are building a spiritual family that worships God, lives the Bible, perseveres in prayer, forms disciples and serves the Kingdom.
Who we are
Church is not a building you enter on Sunday before living like the world for the rest of the week. Church is a people who worship, pray, learn, carry one another and make the good news of Jesus visible in word and deed.
We would rather build a small church of real disciples than a large church of spectators. We seek people who desire to live holy lives, follow Jesus, do the will of the Father and proclaim the gospel.
Perfection is not the dividing line; direction is. There is a great difference between struggling against sin, living in sin and being proud of sin. Those who want to fight, repent and grow will find a spiritual family that stands beside them.
Who we are
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21
What we believe
This is the heart of the faith we confess, teach and seek to live together.
The Bible is God’s reliable, authoritative and sufficient Word for faith, doctrine and life. There is one true and eternal God, Creator of all things: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is truly God and truly human. He died for our sins and was bodily raised. Only by grace, through repentance and faith in Him, do we receive salvation and new life.
The Holy Spirit dwells in believers, baptises and empowers them for witness and service. His gifts operate today, always under the authority of Scripture and subject to orderly testing by the congregation.
The church is the body of Christ, called to worship, prayer, discipleship and mission. We believe in believers’ baptism, the Lord’s Supper, God’s healing and deliverance, Jesus’ return, resurrection, judgement and eternal life.
Grace calls us to a holy life. A Christian is not sinless, but does not make peace with sin. There is a difference between fighting sin, deliberately living in sin and excusing or glorifying sin. Do not despair when the battle remains: the Holy Spirit convicts, renews and leads us again to repentance and obedience.
Jesus calls us not only to believe, but to remain in Him and bear much fruit. This becomes visible in transformed character, obedience, love, service, making disciples and work that serves God’s Kingdom. In this, the Father is glorified.
Following Jesus is not a part-time addition to our lives. He calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him every day. Our time, choices, relationships, possessions, calling and future come under His Lordship. Whoever loses their life for Jesus will find it.
Faith in practice
We learn to follow Jesus every day, seek the Father’s will and grow in holy living through the Word, prayer and the Holy Spirit.
We proclaim the gospel, serve Amsterdam, support mission among the nations and care for people in need.
No spectators. Disciples. We want to lead people toward repentance and faith, equip them through the Word and Spirit, baptise believers and teach them to follow Jesus in everyday life.
Safe and accountable
Prophecy, experience or leadership never stands equal to or above Scripture.
Prayer, healing, deliverance ministry and sharing personal stories are never imposed.
Prayer does not replace medical or psychological help, and illness is not automatic evidence of a lack of faith.
No leader stands above examination, complaints or correction; spiritual authority gives no right to control.
Our mission
Our church seeks to worship God, proclaim the gospel, form disciples, offer pastoral care, serve Amsterdam and support mission among the nations.
Leadership
Amsterdam Shepherd Church is being built with pastors and a church council who distinguish spiritual, administrative and financial responsibilities clearly and carry them together.
Pastors serve through prayer, biblical teaching, discipleship and pastoral care. Their authority remains under Scripture and is never beyond examination or correction.
The church council carries shared responsibility for policy, finances, safeguarding and complaints, with clear roles, shared decisions and transparent accountability.
05 — Missions & Network
From Amsterdam, we are connected with the rest of London Shepherd Church’s global network, sharing the same heart for prayer, discipleship, mission and revival.
Gather with us
Come with faith, questions, doubt, pain or expectation. Nobody is pressured to come forward, give money, share personal information or receive prayer.
We are not looking for a Sunday audience. If you have no desire to live a holy life, follow Jesus or proclaim the gospel, this is not your church. If you are fighting sin and genuinely want to follow Jesus, you are welcome to grow and serve with us.
